The world's first building certification standard that focuses on improving human health and well-being through the indoor environment. It is managed by the International WELL Building Institute™ (IWBI™), a US nonprofit corporation. It was launched after eight years of dialogue, research and testing by world-renowned health science experts and building science experts. It is a system that measures and certifies based on the actual performance of buildings to ensure a healthy indoor environment for users.
The WELL v1 standard extends from the seven major areas that are most directly related to human health and well-being, namely air, water, nutrition, light, fitness, comfort and mind, to the ten major areas of air, water, nutrition, light, movement, thermal comfort, sound environment, materials, mind and community in WELL v2, which evaluates the health attributes of the project. It is independently certified by the third-party certification agency GBCI and is divided into four certification levels: bronze, silver, gold and platinum.

WELL was first recommended to the world by former US President Bill Clinton in September 2012, and WELL v1 was officially released in October 2014. The WELL v2 pilot version was released on May 31, 2018, and the official version of WELL v2 was released globally in 2020, fulfilling its people-centric commitment.
Focus on policies and operating guidelines that apply to all new and existing buildings of any size and any use category to improve the quality of health management in the post-epidemic era.
Provides organizations with an objective and transparent display of health indicators for key environmental quality (IEQ) factors in indoor environments, such as air quality, drinking water safety, thermal comfort, acoustic environment and light.
By changing the way we design, operate and manage to create an environment where everyone can thrive. Enables the organization to achieve diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility goals.
From the single-volume building standard to the WELL Community Standard, and then to the enterprise-based WELL at Scale health scale program, companies are allowed to develop their own ESG healthy building journey and gradually improve the performance of healthy spaces.
WELL's people-oriented approach and pursuit of a healthy environment have received enthusiastic responses from outstanding companies around the world.
As of early 2022, more than 34,710 projects in 111 countries around the world have registered for the WELL Healthy Building Standard, covering more than 356 million square feet of floor area, of which 20,908 projects have been certified. Compared to 2020, the case volume has increased by nearly 780%.
In Taiwan, WELL has also become a new trend in architecture. As of June 2022, a total of 46 cases have been registered, with a floor area of more than 705,000 square meters. Nearly 80% of the cases were coached by EasyLand, and completed Taiwan’s first WELL Gold certification, Taiwan’s first WELL Platinum certification, and Taiwan’s first WELL v2 certification.
