LEED certification
LEED is the abbreviation of "Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design", initiated by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), it is the most famous and credible green building rating system in the world, with a total of Nine scoring indicators "integration process, location and transportation, sustainable base, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, indoor environmental quality, innovative design, regional priority", the results after scoring are determined by the third-party certification body GBCI Independent certification, divided into four certification levels: certification level, silver level, gold level, and platinum level, striving to effectively respond to environmental challenges and at the same time meet the needs of the competitive market.
According to USGBC, green buildings are not just buildings, but a "foundation" that can promote the safe, healthy and sustainable development of human beings, communities and cities. According to USGBC official statistics, as of May 2022, a total of 181 countries have registered (registered projects) and applied for LEED certification (certified projects), of which a total of 84,968 projects have been certified (84,968 certified buildings). Some experts predict that since 2018, the global green building demand will show a trend of doubling every three years (expected to double every three years worldwide), which shows that LEED has an important position in the international green building certification.
LEED Zero
"LEED ZERO is like an enhanced version of LEED. It is used to verify (verify) whether the building has reached the net zero goal, so as to prove that it is a benchmark building in the green building market."
Melissa Baker, Senior Vice President of Core Technology, USGBC
In addition to the nine LEED indicators mentioned above, in order to strengthen the design of green buildings, USGBC launched the concept of "Net Zero" in September 2020, which is to encourage buildings to pursue "zero carbon", "zero energy consumption", " Plans such as "zero water consumption" and "zero waste" are therefore called "LEED ZERO".
